Remembrance Day for the Holocaust

On 27th January, people from all over the world will gather together as they do every year to observe International Holocaust Remembrance Day – the day in 1945 the concentration camp at Auschwitz was liberated. It is several years since Word of Life first began to highlight this day by arranging a special evening of remembrance, and we intend to continue to do so again this year, at 7pm on 28th January.

This time, we shall have the pleasure of listening to the present Israeli Ambassador, Benny Dagan. We shall also be welcoming as speakers Franz T Cohn, honorary spokesman for the Förenade Israelinsamling (United Israel Collection), as well as parliamentarian Cecilia Wikström (People’s Party). Pastor Ulf Ekman will be leading the event as well as being one the evening’s speakers.

“AntiSemitism did not end after the Holocaust”, says Pastor Ulf. “On the contrary, it is growing ever more strongly in certain places around the world, unfortunately. Even here in Sweden, we are noticing tendencies to ignorance, denial of historical realities, even to the point of revisionism of historical truths. This is something that all the powers for good have to react against together.”

Along with the speeches, we are also going to be able to listen to good classical music, including works by Popper and Shostakovich played for us by the Word of Life orchestral ensemble.

Pastor Rasim Khalilov
